Lemony Lemon Ice Cream

(Makes 1 Quart)

The lemon shines through in this easy recipe. The consistency is more like sherbet, but the flavor is ice-cream rich.

1 cup milk, chilled
1 cup heavy whipping cream, chilled
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest

1. Whisk sugar into milk until dissolved.

2. Add cream, lemon juice and lemon zest.

3. Add mixture to ice cream maker and freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. If a firmer consistency is desired, transfer to an airtight container and ripen in freezer for two or more hours.
